HONORING THOSE BRAVE MEN AND WOMAN OF LAW ENFORCEMENT WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE SINCE 2007
In May 2007 the members of BOHA called on retired Buffalo Police officer Katie Martin-Appleford to assist with putting together the first ever Rochester Area Fallen Officer Memorial Softball tournament. Martin-Appleford, had been one of the key players behind the Buffalo Police long running Fallen Officer Memorial Society Softball tournament. Since then Cop-a-polooza has attracted over 4,000 people to this summer time event.

Policeman's Ball
The Policeman's Ball is an annual black tie fundraiser presented by The Badge of Honor Association, and the marquee Law Enforcement event in Western New York. Come and join BOHA at the Policeman's Ball this year to enjoy beverages, food, entertainment, live music, silent auction, and the very popular casino night! This is a night to celebrate and to share memories with hundreds of law enforcement members and their families. Our guests have won everything at the raffle table from 50” LCD T.V.’s to a once in a lifetime chance to fly WWII fighter planes through Air Combat USA. The silent auction has seen all inclusive “Man Caves” and “Extreme Kitchen Makeovers”…you have to be there to see what we have in store for you this year.

This event is one of the newer additions to Cop-a-Polooza. The run is conducted throughout the beautiful and historic Cobbs Hill Neighborhood culminating at the Fleet Feet finish line located at the festival site. This run attracts hundreds of running enthusiasts as well as those who just want to have fun with their friends. There are many different skill levels and divisions, to include the “Handcuff” division. Here contestants are actually handcuffed to their partner during the competition. Each division winner is presented with a trophy under the big top!
The softball tournament is one of the original events from the inaugural Cop-a-Polooza in 2007. This tournament features over 30 different teams from throughout the Western New York Region. With different skill levels and divisions this tournament is for both competitive and recreational players. The games are all officiated by professional umpires and played on the manicured diamonds located at Cobbs Hill Park. The Championship game is played under the lights and the trophies are presented under the big top
The Pride Ride attracts over 200 riding enthusiasts every year. It has taken on the nickname, “Rolling Thunder”, due to the impressive entrance they make at the festival site. Our guests feel and hear them before they ever see a bike! The ride begins with registration at the R.P.D. Patrol Division West Headquarters and culminates at the festival site with V.I.P. parking. The ride allows participants to tour the locations of where Officer’s, Deputy’s, and Trooper’s were killed in the Line of Duty throughout Monroe County. The locations are marked by Memorial Signs erected by B.O.H.A. since 2007.
Vendors row offers everything from delicious food and cold beer to unique and tactical law enforcement gear. Where else could you go and watch or participate yourself in live, outdoor tattooing while listening to live music and having the time of your life at Cop-a-Polooza.
Who else but B.O.H.A. could bring you outdoor boxing under the big top! The boxing tournament is the newest addition to Cop-a-Polooza and was a rousing success at the 2011 festival. The “Thrill at the Hill” as it has been nicknamed features both male and female competitors as well as different weight levels. Sometimes personal but always fun these bouts really got the crowd on its feet. If you thought donut eating was competitive you haven’t seen nothing yet
Donut Eating Competition
By far the biggest draw at Cop-a-Polooza. This event features highly trained and dedicated competitors. What was once a “friendly” competition took on a more sinister theme with cheating allegations being levied at R.F.D’s own Rich “The Fire Plug” Brongo by numerous R.P.D. competitors. These allegations forced B.O.H.A. to bring in official judges. Our competitors arrive in “Super Hero and Villain” style outfits to their own theme music and intro!
Fallen Officer Sign Dedication Ceremony:
This is the first event that B.O.H.A. spearheaded in 2007. Our initial mission was to design and erect memorial signs for all of the Rochester Police Officers who have been killed in the Line of Duty. Each sign is located at the site where these brave individuals paid the ultimate price. Since 2007 B.O.H.A. has continued this mission with the R.P.D. Officer Thomas Clark memorial sign ceremony, New York State Trooper Kevin Dobson memorial sign ceremony, and most recently the Monroe County Sheriff Sergeant Robert M. Skelton Jr. memorial sign ceremony. B.O.H.A. is in the process of working the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to erect signs at the sites of all of there Fallen Deputy’s.
