Badge of Honor Association Street Sign Dedication

On August 23rd, 2007 The Badge of Honor Association with assistance from Rochester Police Department Chief David Moore, Executive Deputy Chief George Markert and then Commander Glen Hoff held the first ever Rochester Police officer sign dedication ceremony. The Ceremony was to honor all of the Rochester Police Department's fallen officers through out history.

Commemorative street sign type plaques were created and placed at the following locations where the officer's had passed away. Each plaque depicts the officer’s name, rank and badge number and the date they died.

The Official ceremony on August 23th 2007 was held at Irondequoit Bay. This location was chosen to honor, whom at that time was Rochester's last fallen Officer, Ron Siver. Officer. Siver drowned August 19th, 1984, while working as a member of the RPD Scuba team.
Since then the Badge of Honor Association has spear headed the effort to recognize Rochester Police Officer Thomas Clark and New York State Trooper Kevin Dobson. Officer Clark died of a heart attack while in the line of duty on January 17, 2006. Officer Clark’s plaque was placed at the Public Safety Training Center K9 Course during a ceremony attended by his family, friends, and fellow officers. Trooper Dobson was struck and killed by a motor vehicle during a traffic stop while in the line of duty on March 26, 2011. On July 26, 2011 B.O.H.A., along with members of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department, New York State Troopers and the Erie County Highway Department, placed Trooper Dobson’s plaque near I-290/Colvin Blvd in Tonawanda N.Y. during a ceremony attended by his family, friends, and fellow officers. B.O.H.A. is currently planning a sign dedication ceremony for Chemung County Sheriff Deputy Jeffrey Alexander who was killed in the line of duty on June 12, 2011. Deputy Alexander died in a motor vehicle accident while in the line of duty. Specifics regarding ceremony to be released at a later date. Further B.O.H.A. has been asked to help honor the fallen NYS Troopers and Monroe County Sheriff Deputies that have paid the ultimate price in Western New York. Details regarding these sign dedication ceremonies will be forthcoming.
